the bus driver on the 49 was listening to jr. country (the new country station. new country, the genre as opposed to a new physical frequency and radio station). personally i can't stand the stuff. it's an over produced mix of middle of the road, bland top forty w/a nasal twang and some pedal steel guitar. give me old country any day.

anyways, at first i was confused 'cause i heard phil collins (that wretched i'm looking at you, you're looking at me it's always the same, it's just ashamed, that's all song) and i'm thinking "double yuck phil collins has broken on the new country station. yet another reason to hate what he became and jr. country is all about". but no, it turns out to be a cover. my jaw didn't drop and i didn't hit my head my head w/my hand but mentally, i did and it did.

so, more to the point. one of the other songs they played had a chorus that went "thank god i'm still a man" now, admittedly i wasn't listening to the actual lyrics. so that was all i heard, repeated a few times.

not knowing what it was actually about, i'd like to think it was a new country take on the last minute regret a pre-op transsexual is having as he decides to not have the snip-snip operation, marry his high school sweetheart, get a truck, a dog and burn his bras.
