more use of vancouver scenery and talent in popular tv shows:

zac on stu
this is from stargate universe, which they shoot here in town. that's zac, he used to do a radio show for the station i work at. i see him occasionally in locally made tv.

slocan on fringe
this is from fringe, and the scene is taking place in te slocan restaurant. any time i take the 135 bus from downtown to work, or vice verse, i go past this. never eaten there, but i hear it's ok.

*30*

it taking me longer and longer to recover from insults.

so i'm watching this popeye cartoon and in it, both popeye and bluto have diners. one across the street from the other and wimpy is their only customer. kind of like an analogy for walmart vs. everyone else.

anyhow, these things are always about escalation.

bluto
and here bluto, kicking things up a notch, is taking pepper off a shelf to make popeye sneeze.

spice?
but wait, right next to the pepper... spice?

are there other references to dune hid inside these cartoons?

cinematheque's recent program guide offers an annual pass. good for all regular screenings there in 2010.

it's $249. which is about $60 less than what i paid for my viff pass (which was only good for, including the media screenings, about a month).

it's a lot of money for me, but, i think i'm going to buy it and call it an xmas gift for myself.

in previous years i spent multiples of $88 to buy a 10 movie pass from them. i figure in 2007 i spent well in excess of, probably twice that much seeing films there.

the shitty thing is, 2010 is still a month and a half away. between now and then i could easily see 20-25 films.

btw, i'm going there on sunday to watch all 5 parts of the cremaster cycle, which is probably close to, if not longer than 7 hours. if you know whats good for you, you'll come and sit next to me.

sorry if this is all old to you, but it's new to me.

Photobucket
check it out, angus scrimm AKA the tall man from the phantasm movies has a two episode spot on alias. is it me, or do you think that maybe jj abrams has a soft spot for those don coscorelli movies. i don't know if they were ever referenced in lost, but both scrimm and coascorelli were both mentioned on fringe.

the other thing, jenifer garner does some things very well. need high kicks while wearing a tight dress? she kicks ass at that.
alias bad surprise acting

some things, like acting surprised, she's not very good at.

alias bad surprise acting
surprised much? you're doing it wrong.

i only just started watching alias, but i'm already 15 episodes into season one.

another good reason to watch, as if the continual cliff hangers wasn't enough,
alias sarah
sarah shahi AKA dani reese from life has a reoccurring character.

why did i never watch this when it was broadcasting regularly?

these last 3 days i've woken up w/a headache.

behind my right eye that gets worse and worse. friday i thought it was the flu, took some aspirin around 3 and eventually it went away.

saturday, it just got worse and worse all day until i took a nap at 6 and woke up w/it gone.

today, i took some advil and hope w/in a few hours it's gone.

is this dehydration?

anyone watch the premier of V tonight?

i thought things looked familiar, so i checked it out. it's being filmed here in town.

this does not bode well.

hometown pride and all... much bad tv is made here.

even my favorite show from last season, fringe, moved here over the summer. it's completely lost it's nervyneess. the tone has changed, now it's almost comedy.

which is not to say some good tv doesn't get made here. maybe i'm overly critical 'cause i recognize locations, or actors from other locally made shows.

i made an external 1 tb hard drive my birthday present to myself.

so far it's been formatting for over an hour.

btw, if your in town wednesday the 4th, come by pat's pub after 8 and wish me a happy birthday. there may be cake.

i was thinking about going to see susperia tonight, but i'm super paranoid about the swine flu.

nothing breeds bacteria like a crowded movie theater.

and because i have ms, it's not recommended that i get a flu shot.

so far i've been taking care of myself by taking lots of zinc and the vitamin C as well as keeping myself hydrated.

not being around a lot of people probably helps too.
